Victims of Acts of Terror Memorial
Monument to victims of terrorism in Jerusalem.
Morning · 45 minFrom Mount Herzl to the Mount of Olives · memory, holy places, ridge-top views
This three-day route moves from west to east, from the monuments of modern Jerusalem to the stones of the Old City and the ridge that overlooks it all. It is a couple's trip paced to leave room to stand still: mornings given to the country's story, afternoons kept indoors in museums, evenings saved for open views. April light is long and clear, which suits the shape of the days.

Monument to victims of terrorism in Jerusalem.
Morning · 45 min
Site of Israel's national cemetery in Jerusalem.
The national cemetery is a working place rather than a park; walk quietly and keep to the paths.
Morning · 1 hr 15 min.jpg?width=800)
Аchaeological museum in Jerusalem.
The collection runs chronologically, so start at the beginning and keep a steady pace; it is sized to read in one pass.
Afternoon · 2 hrNational museum of the state of Israel in Jerusalem.
Two hours covers a focused visit; choose one or two areas to look at properly instead of hurrying through the whole building.
Evening · 2 hrThe Israel Museum and the Bible Lands Museum sit side by side; do the smaller one first so its chronological story sets up the larger collection.

Small valley located in Jerusalem.
Morning · 45 min
Organization in Jerusalem.
Morning · 2 hrChurch in Jerusalem, containing the two holiest sites in Christianity.
The same site holds services for several denominations at once; step aside for processions and take the quieter corners when you find them.
Afternoon · 45 min
Eastern Orthodox church.
Evening · 45 minSeveral denominations share the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and keep to their own hours; move with the flow and let the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate close the evening at a quieter pace.

Public square in the Old City of Jerusalem.
The morning is the open part of the day; head coverings are available for anyone who wants one at the wall.
Morning · 45 minGarden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
Morning · 1 hr 15 min
Mountain in Jerusalem that is mentioned several times in the Bible.
The view across the Kidron Valley makes the whole city's layout readable; this is where the last daylight is best spent.
Afternoon · 1 hr 15 min
Mountain in East Jerusalem.
Evening · 1 hr 15 minStart at the Western Wall Plaza before the crowds build, then take the walk up from Gethsemane slowly; save the last of the light for the view from the Mount of Olives.
This trip goes west to east: modern memorials and museums first, then the Old City's holy sites, and the ridge of the Mount of Olives last, so the views make sense of what has already been seen.
About two hours covers a focused visit. The museum is large, so pick one or two galleries and look properly rather than trying to see everything.
Modest clothing, with shoulders and knees covered, is expected at the wall, the church and the garden. Flat shoes help on the Old City's worn stones.
Spring draws visitors, so this route takes in the most storied sites in the mornings and evenings and keeps the afternoons inside the museums.
